Friday, Traditional Pickledish
- Often called Indian Wedding Ring, this traditional block is not for the timid. We will paper piece the arcs and then sew the gentle curves together. The 12" block works well with scraps or a controlled color group. 8 foundations for four blocks (as shown in pictures) are provided, as well as a multi-page, well illustrated handout and full size templates for the inside melon shape and outside background.
And what does this quilt look like?

Saturday, July 15: Double Hexie Stars
Hexagons branch out into double stars with this easy to piece block with NO y-seams! No kidding. All patches are cut with a 60 degree ruler (paper templates provided also). Create a block with the illusion of intricate piecing, with the bonus of having a large space in the center that can showcase an awesome motif. Block Size: 16" x 18". Two block quilt with borders: 28" x 42"A new sample made with some Kaffe Fassett fabrics:

The fun of this block is that you can cut any size hexagons and diamonds and triangles with a multi-size 60 degree ruler. Let's see my two block quilt and a few newer blocks:

And the Sunday class is Patty's Summer Parasol:
Patty's Summer Parasol is a traditional block sewn with odd shaped templates, similar to a Double Wedding Ring. I converted this vintage pattern to paper piecing. The melon shape is stitched to the paper-pieced arc and then is interfaced for ease of turning. The handle is raw edge applique and the parasol tip is a prairie point! All 9 foundations are included, as well as multi-page, well illustrated pattern with full size templates. This is much easier than it looks and is Scrap Friendly. Fat quarter friendly, too (all but the cream background)

And can we see just one parasol?

And some of the paper pieced units?

There are still a few openings in each class. I'd love to have you join us.
