Calendar Girl Quilts - 13 of Them!

In case you missed it, I published 13 quilts in a wall calendar in 2012: "The Best of 2012 Calendar Quilts." You can now get the 92 page pdf for ALL 13 quilts on CD for $15 and FREE postage!

Let me do the math for you: It comes to $1.15 per pattern!

Snow Crystals is the cover quilt:
Snow Crystals. Block Size: 24" x 24". Quilt Size: 34" x 34"
Snow Crystals is based on a vintage pattern of the same name. I converted the pattern from odd shaped templates and set-in seams to simple paper piecing. The entire CENTER of this quilt is ONE block: Snow Crystals. It was designed by Eveline Foland and appeared in the Kansas City Star on December 13, 1930!

Let's see the other 12. There is appliqué, paper piecing, raw edge appliqué, rotary cutting - all of it! I call this "The Best of 2012 Calendar Quilts."

The January quilt is Colorburst Squares: 72" x 82" and was the basis for a workshop for a few years. We stack a pile of 10-1/2" squares, cut, and then shuffle the units.

The February quilt is Hearts on Fire and is an oldie but goodie and you've seen it featured here before. Simple raw edge appliqué. The leftover pieces from cutting out the big hearts yields the little hearts and the funky half-hearts in the border!

Hearts on Fire: 43" x 63"
March showcases the The Gretchen Quilt and is a pattern I sell individually in my Etsy store ($7). For another $8 you get 12 more quilts! (and free postage!) But you can see several other color ways I stitched this same pattern in when you click that link.

April showers bring some Dancing Flower Pots. This also is an independent pattern I sell as a digital file on Etsy.

Dancing Flower Pots: 46" x 58"
Dogwood Blossoms (May quilt) is a mini quilt that combines both paper piecing and raw edge appliqué. The little pink tips are really prairie points using gros grain ribbon. Clever, huh?

Dogwood Blossoms: 20" x 26"
June features Winding Ways with a 10" traditional block that is typically pieced with all those curved units using templates for all 12 patches per block. I simplified this to just two pieces: the background square and the curved single unit appliqué. I sell the digital pattern on Etsy for $7.00. Click the link to see two other quilts I've made with this easy pattern.

Winding Ways: 55" x 55"
July quilt: Garden Bouquet is a vintage pattern from the Kansas City Star. The original pattern has 20 different flowers that are each centered in a red pot and the two birds on either side are named Saucy Bird and Meek Bird! The blocks are 12" (set on point they measure 17"). The 11 page pdf pattern has full size templates for everything (urns, birds and the 5 flowers).

Garden Bouquet: 34" x 34"
Big Top Stripes (August) is another of my independent Etsy patterns (digital for $8.00). You can see the variety of colors I've made this in. It works so well with those stripes you've been wondering what to do with! You strip piece and cut squares and then . . . Well, you need to get the pattern!

Big Top Stripes: 8" Blocks. 48" x 48" quilt

Memories of Janet (September) was made using a fabric collection to feature ovarian cancer research. I lost a dear friend named Janet and dedicated the quilt in her honor. I donated it to raise money for cancer research years ago.

Memories of Janet: 48" x 48"
Harvest Pumpkins was the quilt for October. This is such a fun block to piece! Block size is 8" and the quilt is 25" x 34".

Harvest Pumpkins: 25" x 34"
Royal Star (November) is still one of my "movie star quilts"! This quilt has been on the cover of a magazine twice and on the cover of my first book! It is the remake of a vintage block which I converted to easy paper piecing. It also is in my Etsy shop as a single pattern.

Royal Star: 49" x 49"
Holiday Splendor is the December quilt. This is my workshop sample for when I teach my One Day Lone Star classes. That center Lone Star is a whopping 35" x 35" block!

Everything navigates from the CD. No need to install anything. Works on all computers that have the free Adobe Reader (and we all do).
