I've done another tutorial for Benartex for their
Sew in Love with Fabric blog. It's all about kitties, but I had to change the theme just slightly. I don't knit! These kitties are wearing knitted sweaters. But I can crochet, and so my theme is all about crocheting. So we have to imagine they are wearing crocheted sweaters.
Take a visit to the blog site and see what all the meow-ing is about.
Visit their
Facebook page (those of you who have Facebook accounts) and let others know what you think of those kitties. Now, you have to know I am a DOG PERSON. But kitties are just fine with me, too.

This is Belle, just catching a few winter rays on the back porch. |
There is a giveaway for those who hop on over to
Sew in Love with Fabric and then come back to tell me what you thought. I have a bundle of fat quarters for the giveaway. I used every single inch of the fat quarter of the main kitty print, so I have none of that to share. But the other prints are mighty fine!

ReplyDeleteMy mom made me a fabric covered oatmeal box many years ago (we won't say just how many) and used a blue dotted Swiss fabric. On the lid she used a hot pink plastic ring for taking the lid off. It was held in place by a metal thing that opens up inside (a brad maybe?). I still have that box but haven't looked inside of it for ages. I wonder what treasures from the late '60s/early '70s it might hold? Loved the hook holder. As a fellow crochet person I could see it coming in handy. The hexies are too cute. I know my daughter would love this fabric so I'd best not show her this post. I follow you and Benartex via e-mail. One of these days I might try Facebook as well. For now, there aren't enough hours in the day to do it all.
ReplyDeleteI follow Benartex on Facebook and I follow their blog. Thanks for some great ideas!

The fabric is irresistable! And the "crochet caddy" in a very clever idea! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI "like" Benartex on facebook and I follow them. I wish we had oats in boxes like yours, ours are boring rectangular or just bags. i am a doggy person but knitty kitty is pretty cute.
ReplyDeleteMy mom made a crochet caddy out of an oatmeal box, when I was really young. She just covered it with boring contact paper, though. I think your idea is much more fun! Thanks.

I will be saving my oatmeal boxes in the future! Such cute fabric too,
ReplyDeleteI signed up to follow via email. We go thru about 10 oatmeal boxes a year. I like this idea for more than just crochet hooks. I am also thinking magazine holders made from cereal boxes. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat great ideas! I love the hoop! I might just make one (or 2, or 3) to hold some of my smaller rulers :) I already like and follow Benartex. Thanks for a terrific giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteHey Debby, great project, another added to my to do list ;) I'm a cat/dog person have both and think the fabric is adorable. Great way to show off a favourite fabric in a practical way. Following Bernatex by Bloglovin. Thanks for the giveaway. What fun!
ReplyDeleteI love that you repurpose items. I know that I love to use items that help hold items close at hand that I use all the time. In my sewing area I use the clear case that blank CD or DVD's come in and within those I use the Crystal Lite containers. Thanks for the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI've liked Benartex on facebook and Bloglovin'. I think the oatmeal idea is terrific. I, myself, hate to throw away containers. We can probably say hoarder or the preferable label of pack rat.
