Amish Shadows |
Here is another quilt that I made using the
Windham Gee's Bend Solids. I based it on a traditional Amish quilt I saw in a book. Those colors are so drenched and pop out as they sit between the black squares. And seeing those squares set on point is so much more interesting than not, huh?
This quilt appeared in McCall's about 2 years ago and is also in my 2014 wall calendar. This is how it appeared in McCall's:

Now it's time to see what today's Kona Solids Bloggers have been up to!
January 10
It's beautiful. I love the way the black sets out the colors. I have ALMOST worked with solids several times but am seduced away by pattern. This Hop has strengthened my resolve to do something in solids this year. :)
ReplyDeleteDebby this really turned out lovely, the blue pulls out the colors and the FMQ is fabulous, thanks for sharing. I agree with gpc, this hop is inspiring me to work more with Kona solids

ReplyDeleteI love the colors! I don't know how I missed that line of fabrics. Whenever you say "vault," I envision a huge bank vault and inside stacks and stacks of quilts you've made. =)
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your solid quilts, but this one is just super. Love the Amish look.
ReplyDeleteI have the pattern from your calendar!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is going on my bucket list. Black is popping up in a lot of my sewing lately.
This is really beautiful in those colors! I think I need to make it! :0)
ReplyDeleteI was scrolling through the blog hop list and saw your name....wait isn't that...? I just hung my calendar last night. Then I popped over and Here you are featuring the first quilt in the calendar! :-) I am looking forward to making at least one (or twelve) projects from this calendar this year! I can't wait to see what you are sharing for the hop! :-)
