Earth Day Quilt, Fabric and Fun Pattern

Happy Earth Day. I love the earth! It's the only place I can live for the time being. I try to be respectful (because the Designer is watching!)

And, as a quilter, you know I have a thing or two related to the earth. The first is a piece of map fabric showing all the continents. This is from Windham Fabrics. Pretty awesome, huh?

And the second Earth Day pic is from 15 years ago and is called Trash Basket Batiks because I rescued and recycled fabric that had been thrown into the trash can and made this quilt. I mean: isn't Earth Day about creative recycling? We quilters do that all the time!

  1. Hi Debby! I love that fabric of earth with all the continents. I am a big map fan - love to study them whether it's a road map or one showing countries. Fascinating. I hope you had a wonderful Easter. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Is the map fabric a current line? I am fascinated by maps too. I especially like to compare older and newer maps and see how things have changed.

    1. Hi, Susan. That’s a Windham collection from 2016 called Theory of Aviation: http://www.windhamfabrics.com/php/fabricshop/fabricshop.php?a=sc&Category=905

You probably can find pieces of it online! (I have NO idea where my piece is after that giant move in November).

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I can't believe it's been 15 years since that pattern! Wow. My life was so different then! I had one more year of teaching before retirement, and Paul was still with me. Isn't it fun to move? I always remember where things WERE before then. LOL Best of luck sorting everything.

    1. Time has a way of creeping up on us. So much has happened in my life in 15 years (with several moves, too). And a lot of quilts. I actually found one sample for a class I'm teaching on Saturday that I was sure I gave away! But as I was looking for something else, lo and behold, there was that last block. Gotta keep putting my stuff on my quilting spreadsheet!
