Audrey's Whimsical Garden

In 2015 I had been asked by Windham Fabrics to create a design to be kitted for Keepsake Quilting catalog using their Gardening collection. I am not an outside gardener like my husband. He loves to make things grow, keep our lawn lush and green and trimmed and plant lots of flowers. I like to garden with beautiful fabrics. Then your garden can last through the Winter. What do you think about that?

I decided to create a watering can, some birdhouses, butterflies and a few flowers. Here are a few of the 8" blocks.

Watering cans, birdhouses and butterflies
While it's a 2016 set of fabrics, I think you'll agree with me that the motifs are timeless and will always bring a smile to your face. This pattern will work with just about any fabrics.

I put them all into a sweet little quilt (40" x 40") with 8" blocks.

I also made 3 flanged pillows. This first one is my prototype using a different Windham collection.

And another prototype. I'm pretty sure my daughter Audrey has grabbed these two!

And the pillow that appears in the pattern:

Let's see the back. An easy on and off with the pillow form.

This was a popular pattern for Keepsake catalog in 2016. The quilt AND pillow pattern is a 13 page pdf with full size templates for the appliqué and full size pattern for printing the foundation birdhouse. Keepsake sold the two patterns separately, but I've bundled them together. And my price is less than half of what they charged!

Check it out. And let me know how your garden is growing this summer!

Comments

  1. I need a blue watering can like in the block above for my garden. Sometimes I don't want to drag the hose out to water just a few things. I have been harvesting Romaine lettuce. The watermelon and zucchini are growing well as are all my flowers. Unfortunately, the weeds are doing well too.
