I'm a Little Teapot, Short and Stout - and a Giveaway
Teapots Collection by Blank Quilting |
I received a small amount of a new collection of fabrics from Blank Quilting. These feature teapots from the personal collection of Diana Mancini, the Marketing Director for Blank. They are so beautiful and it's so much fun to see them in fabric. I took pictures of the companion fabrics yesterday and I wanted to get YOUR opinion of what sorts of things I should sew with them (yes, I can get more fabric!)
I want to appeal to the younger crowd, those who are new to sewing, don't have a lot of time to create things for their homes. I am thinking tea cozy (yawn?), table runner (what do you think?), kitchey things.
Visit Blank on their Facebook page to see other new collections. Patterns. Pretties. Fabric!
I love to see all the new things and the endless possibilities, don't you?
Here is a free pattern with a previous teapot print called Tea for Two.
Tea for Two, free pattern in two colorways |
Latest issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine |
2. A bundle of 6 fat quarters of these fabrics (after I get my main supply)
I must have your email for your chance to win. Leave a comment telling me your ideas about what to sew. It would be great if you were a follower (by "following" or email), but that's not necessary. Take a visit to Blank's Facebook page and like them (again, not a requirement, just go visit!)
The deadline is midnight Wednesday, December 5th.
In the meantime, here is a redraft of a Teapot from the Kansas City Star newspaper, 1935. It's appliqué and would be delightful in any type of fabrics, vintage or modern. We still drink tea, mind you!
Such a pretty tea pot fabric! And lovely matchies!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I am a follower and I love your blog, such beautiful patterns. What I would sew with this pattern is a "Teapot Rug" (sorta like a Mug Rug) with matching coasters for your tea cups. Maybe on each corner of the Teapot Rug you can put little circle velcro's so that you can hang the coasters on it. This could double as a wall hanging. I love Kitchen things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win. Elizabeth
Oh how lovely! I am also a happy follower of your blog. The pattern looks so great and I love those teapots. Probably I would make some potholders.
ReplyDeleteI follow you! I think the fabric is tea cute! A tea cozy and coasters would be super cute :)
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a tribute quilt to The Mad Hatter with lots of hats, each one with a different teapot in the stovepipe section. That would be easy for you, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower. Enjoy your posts.
Wonderful fabric! I think it would be great for vintage blocks! But of course, very suitable for mug rugs, and a tea cosy with that fantastic focus fabric. How about kitchen accents for after Christmas, say pieced tea towel borders, narrow pieced curtain edging, a circular table topper?
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for table runners and I think these would make up into a really cute table runner for the kitchen. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric !! I would make something like a tablerunner !!!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be great to have a matched set of teapot shaped coasters, tea cozy, and oven mitt. Everyone needs dish towels, so a teapot shaped hanger for a towel would draw a lot of attention.
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics , I immediately see an apron and tea cozy and oh some mug rugs would be sweet .I am a follower.
ReplyDeletePillowcases would be lovely. And kitchen curtains definitely if the colors go with your color scheme. How about a wall hanging for your kitchen?
ReplyDeleteI think place mats and a tablerunner would be nice in this fabric. Thanks for the giveaway. (I follow by email)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! For a new sewer, or a non-sewer, this would be perfect for cloth napkins. Potholders would be a great and simple next step. I am a follower. :)
ReplyDeleteI would mix them in with other fabrics for a scrappy quilt. One with pieces big enough to see the teapots. I love scrappy quilts where you can look at them many times and discover fun & interesting fabrics each time.
ReplyDeletePerhaps simple squares with some 'fussy cutting'!
ReplyDeleteReally cute fabric! I've been buying focus fabrics for awhile to use as the center of blocks. I guess I'd start with some tea cup rugs (mug rugs)and go from there with more kitchen pieces....wall hanging, runner, table cover, etc.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric - I can see a hot pad for a tea pot to sit on and some tea twoels trimmed with this plus a mug rug so you have a whole emsemble! So cute! I follow by email :)
ReplyDeleteI love this fabnic. I could see a hot pad and a tablerunner. I follow you by email. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI thought of a Victorian tea party. And placemats (although they would not have had them during the Victorian age)with small fussy cuts of the teapots along an edge. Potholders for the teapots at the party. And some napkins from the companion fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to be in your giveaway! I'd think placemats and or mug rugs would be nice.

I would do some fussy cutting and make towels and napkins out of this gorgeous fabric. thanks Debby
ReplyDeleteHow about one of those endless scarves with a super soft lining, that way the "Tea Pots" could keep you warm no matter where you go!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance :)
I would make an apron, a pot holder, a large square center for on my table then I would make a plate taker. You know when you want to take your plate with you and sit in the chair, but the plate is hot.. we do this at our house LOL. Bigger than a pot holder, very necessary :)
ReplyDeleteA large runner to showcase those beautiful teapots with lots of HSTs around the border.
ReplyDeleteI will have an antique stove in my new sewing room in the spring and I think a set of potholders, a runner and tea cozy would be perfect with this fabric! Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI can see a table runner and an apron. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeletebonnielarson58@gmail.com

I would make a table runner and tea towels with ruffles.

ReplyDeleteOf course you must make a tea "suite" of a tea pot cozy, table topper, dainty napkins and maybe a little drip catcher that fits on the tea pot spout!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous fabric - it would be perfect for some Mug Rugs.
ReplyDeleteLove the teapots! I would fussy cut them and make table runners, mug rugs and holders!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what that block in the quilt is called but the tea pots would be awesome in that twisty look. I am a follower. I would make an apron and maybe some pot holders. The teapots are really cute.

If you are talking teaching REALLY beginning sewists and want kitcheny things, how about teaching them how to measure an appliance and make a quilted cover-up for it. That might not be as boring as a tea cosy. I would think table runners and placemats would be great for those teapots. I can't wait to get my hands on some of those little fabrics. I want to use that teapot block from the 100 blocks issue 6...
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower. What lovely fabrics. I would make a purse with a fussy cut coin purse to match.

ReplyDeleteI get your blog by email.
Here are some ideas
Last year for Christmas I made tea wallets out of a very similar fabric.
I also used a tea fabric to create interest on dish towels. I just add a border of the fabric.
And I have made tea cup and tea mug quilts.
My daughter's friends love the aprons I make them. (The 31 year old)
And little bags for purses, phones and cameras are super popular with my daughters' friends. (31 and 24)
Food for thought!
I think a table runner and placemats would be great. Maybe even a tea cosy!
ReplyDeletePlacemats with matching napkins? Pillows? Sew many things I could go on and on! Thank you for the wonderful giveaways and tutorials! Happy Holidays! Ani (playdoll2 AT gmail.com - close the gaps use @ for AT).
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I am a follower and I love your blog,
ReplyDeleteMaybe because I'm in the middle of remodeling a 1952 home, these fabrics scream kitchen curtains... I think they would just fit right in. Maybe some placemats to go with??

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the teapot collection. Such a cute ides. I have several teapots and also salt and pepper shakers.
ReplyDeleteI think that a tea cozy, table runners and hot pads. Old be nice. I recently saw a tutorial for adding a ruffle to a dish towel that would look great with this fabric. I love tea pits.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought is this fabric would make an adorable apron. Place mats, and pot holders would be nice too. Thanks for the chance to win! angieterry84(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI'd be making my mother in law a table runner with that fabric,,,a mug rug,,,embellishing tea towels.
ReplyDeleteI have to say as soon as I saw the fabrics and the teapots before I read the rest of your blog, table runner screamed out to me!! love all the fabrics... and I am a follower and get your email already.

I think a tea cozy out of that fabric would be great, but then, I am not a young, new sewer! I think that young people are "tea bag in the cup" kind of folks, not tea coziers. So, I'd suggest a hot pad or pot holders.
ReplyDeleteA tea cozy and a tablecloth. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway! I would make some mug rugs with this fabric. I am a follower. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeletewigglypup2(at)yahoo(dot)com
Wow just love that teapot fabric
ReplyDeleteI could see a tablerunner and matching placemats.
Oh, so cute. I think these would make charming pillowcases--probably because I'm making pillowcases right now. :) A bigger version of a mug rug would be nice, or a tea pot cozy.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower. Thanks for all you do.
A table topper or runner would be really cute made up with those fabrics.
ReplyDeleteJust found this. LOVE it! Going to try it with the GO! die for drunkards path.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this in-depth review. I was looking for information about this but didn't get any information what exactly
ReplyDeleteI am looking for. Fortunately, I come across to your website and it helps to make my decision.
It's really made my day.
