More Flowers, More Quilts

Text link for FREE pattern has been fixed!

Kona Bay Fabrics designed so many beautiful collections. Unfortunately, they have retired their business (2017), but I still have fond memories of one particular collection called Raychel's Garden. They sent me the digital skus of the fabrics and then I went to work sending ideas to feature the fabrics. I'd like to show you a few (and at the end give you a link for a FREE pattern).

The first is Love Birds. There are 3 different blocks in this quilt. First, the digital:

Love Birds Quilt: 53" x 53". Block Size: 8-1/2" finished

I made it in real fabrics and have since given it away. It was such a sweet quilt!

I also made a table runner and appliquéd a dove on a tea cozy. I gave this away as a set to some happy friend.

Those projects were published in Quilt Magazine about 18 years ago, but Kona Bay still wanted something for a digital quilt pattern for their customers.

Next is the Chain of Squares. Again, based on a vintage block. This quilt would be 70" x 70" stitched out. The bigger the quilt, the more fabric someone buys!

Chain of Squares: 70" x 70"

Here is what ONE Chain of Squares blocks looks like. This is from my calendar and sewn with real fabric by Patricia Bryant of Australia.

And we actually had made this into a quilt with other fabrics and published so long ago in Quilt Magazine.

I decided to use the vintage Garden Path block for the quilt that Kona Bay finally narrowed it all down to. Here's how it appears in my Quilters' Block a Day Calendar.

June 10: Garden Path, 12"

Here's the Garden Path quilt I made for Kona Bay Fabrics. And the FREE pattern for the 72" x 72" quilt: Raychel's Garden. This is a REAL quilt (notice the red binding). Yes, that is a LOT of piecing in there!

  4. Thank you, Debby, for the pattern. I have downloaded it now, and I'm off to my sewing room. Have a great day and try to avoid all of those thunderstorms we experienced overnight.
