Harry Potter Fun
I found a wonderful project that uses those 10" squares (layer cake) we have bundles of but are not sure what we can do with them! I've made several in all sorts of prints, but today I want to focus on the new Benartex Harry Potter Collection.

I was given a few prints and coordinating blenders and was challenged to do something fun and easy. I thought of the SewCanShe fabric bags and that settled it!
You start with two 10" squares for the outside and two 10" squares for the lining. The bags are reversible, so you can feature 4 awesome prints or two prints and two lining blenders (which I did). Here are one outside print and the red lining for that side of the bag. Yes, we cut 2-1/2" squares from the bottoms. And, yes, that is fusible fleece ironed to the outer layer (all info is clearly explained in that link).

Then, the 2 lining pieces are stitched together along sides and bottom AND the two outside pieces are stitched the same.

Now it's time to sew those corner squares. It can be confusing, so pay attention to the pattern!

One last step to join the lining to the bag so that it stays put! This took me awhile to wrap my head around, but it makes a lot of sense. This way the lining stays INSIDE the bag.

Now, they get turned right side out with all seams hidden. The last seam is joining the lining to the outside along the top edge (turned 1/4" under). See how nice it is when the lining is folded!
