Yes - a box of Christmas quilt blocks! This is a fun, new addition to the other series sets by C&T Publishing. 40 blocks with all sorts of helpful diagrams on how to arrange into quilts, runners and pillows. But, the best part is that the block is offered in several sizes from 6" to 36"!

I found some fun blocks to sew and decided on the "Ho" block (for a Ho Ho Ho quilt). Let's see one of those blocks. I simplified the several squares that make up the vertical strips - I made them rectangles (quilter's privilege, of course).

One of the designers of the deck, Gailen Runge, made several quilts using the blocks. Here is her candle banner:

Fun motifs can be pieced with squares and triangles and rectangles: Trees, Santa Belt and Hat, Elf Shoes, Grinch's Heart (no kidding). Words like Joy, Ho Ho Ho, and Joy. Candles, Stars, Ornaments and Gifts!

Let's see the Elf Shoe (top center of image above):

I also stitched a stocking: using some of the same fabrics (green is a Benartex Fossil Fern and red is a Windham Bedrock fabric).

I can't wait to make the trees and candy cane!
Here's my Ho Ho Ho Banner along with the two fleece stockings I made for two grandkids last Sunday. What do you think?

Two more projects by Gailen that I can't leave out. She told me that many of the blocks came from a brain storming session at her parent's house where her two teenaged kids came up with a few ideas! First is a gorgeous star quilt she made and now resides with her daughter in a college dorm:

Gailen is Creative Director for C&T Publishing (who is also my publisher). But, she's just like quilters the world over - she even has unfinished projects on her design wall - yikes! Here's one using the Road to Oklahoma block (in the card deck) that has been languishing for a year . . .

Oh, that makes me feel better. Sometimes you have to let these things percolate until they're ready to be finished.
An extra bonus is that you can see more samples of how to use the set on the
C&T YouTube channel!
