Eat Your Carrots!
Yes, indeed! I made my 3 daughters eat their veggies every night. Wish I hadn't been such a tyrant, but hey - they're healthy and now eat most vegetables without finger wagging.
Do you remember my Carrot blocks from a few years ago? I made them using some fat quarters of Bedrock (by Windham Fabrics). Aren't they sweet?
Five Carrot Blocks |
I selected 3 fabrics of Bedrock for my simple block. Of course there's a real orangey - orange! I decided to make a version of my Eat Your Carrots pattern.
Fabrics selected for my Carrot blocks |
I printed my carrot pattern (for foundation piecing) five times. It will finish to 6".
I pulled a Summer sky blue print and used that for my setting triangles. I selected a second cream for the border strips. And here is my quilt center. What do you think?

I quilted it a few weeks ago and then pulled out the only bunny I still have here in Grandma's house. She is actually mine, given to me by my sweet husband about 20 years ago. Added a few carrots and a tiny fork. What can I say? Yes, there are two fabrics for the borders. It's all I had. They are from an older Windham Collection called Gardening.

Let me show you the back. It's pieced using mostly fabrics from that Gardening collection. Carrots, carrots everywhere!
Back of quilt. Lotsa carrots! |
You can find this 6 page Eat Your Carrots pattern in my Etsy store. It has clear directions and illustrations and even patch cutting templates for that carrot shape so you don't waste a lot of fabric trying to make things fit. I think Bugs Bunny would be very happy to have this hanging in his house, don't you think?
Hi Debby! I was forced to eat my veggies when I was a kid, too. It worked because I still eat and enjoy most of them. I love that gardening fabric, especially those cute tiny carrots on the backing. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteHi, Roseanne. Yes, veggies get a bad rap with kids! I eat most of them now, but my oldest daughter still can't stand peas. And her husband loves them. I have made several projects using that Gardening fabric and have a few good sized scraps left to entertain my granddaughter (7 yo) who is loving sewing.
DeleteOh my gosh, love the carrots! The chicken fabric is so cute. Yes, I eat my carrots!
ReplyDeleteYes, those carrots are so cute, but the bunny sitting there was my favorite part. We actually had carrots last night in my stew - yummy!
DeleteYes, I think Bugs Bunny would be very happy to have this hanging in his house. I would too.
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan. Yes, I need to find a little space to hang this. My grandkids are coming next weekend (5 and 7) and will get a kick out of it!
DeleteAwesome carrot blocks. Beautiful colors. I just love your quilt so much! Have a great day! 🐇🥕
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angie. I'll pass on those kind words to the little quilt (and the bunny, too!)
