I guess you could all me a Calendar Girl since I've published 18 quilting calendars over the years! Three wall calendars and 15 desktop Block a Day calendars. I was glad when my publishers decided to stop them after 2020 - my brain was SO empty! Last year for the desktop calendars I began the desktop calendars in 2006. I drew all the art, wrote all the directions, calculated all the supplies for dozens and dozens of quilts and several hundred blocks FOR EACH YEAR! Yes, I did this until 2020. In the meantime, the original publisher was purchased by Andrews McMeel - the largest calendar publisher in the world and they decided they would also like a few wall calendars. I found this easier to do since I only offered them previously published quilts (and all the instructions were written!) 2012 Wall Calendar of Quilts featuring Snow Crystals Many of the quilts in the calendar I sell individually. I keep finding more animal quilts in my Quilt Vault. Roly Poly Circus Animals is from the Kansas City Star in 1923. The animals were designed as redwork embroidery. The blocks are 9" and there are 20 of them. A quilting friend designed and made this delightful quilt using 5 of the redrafts I had done in 2002. Roly Poly Circus Quilt The pattern has this and also all 20 of the original redwork designs (not scanned but redrafted, full size). Here is how they appear in a simple quilt as presented at their debut. These have been digitally redrawn by me and the pattern set is a 50 page pdf! More birds, and I'l try to finish with them today. But, I keep finding more in my Quilt Vault! These two sassy birds are from the Garden Bouquet vintage set of blocks. They appear in every single flower block - all 25 of them! I redrafted these 20 years ago from the 1930s designs of Florence LaGanke. My blocks are 12" x 12" and this small quilt is 34" x 34". Five Block Garden Bouquet quilt : 34" x 34"  These two birds were given names! They are Saucy Bird and Meek Bird! I took the original urn pattern that composed of templates and turned them into a single piece of appliqué. Very easy, indeed! The rest of the images (flowers, birds) are also raw edge appliqué. Here is a vintage quilt top from the 1930s. What do you think? Very lavender! The anonymous maker kept one bird yellow and the other blue.
