Quilter's Block a Day Calendar Week 9

Ooops! I mean Week 9.

I have enjoyed hearing from many of you about how much you like seeing all these blocks each week. I am so happy to share them. Here we are in Week 8 with seven more blocks!

February 26: Squire Smith's Choice. Look at those little animals and Squire Smith!

 February 27: Little House

February 28: Windmill. Such a beautiful blue and white photo of an old windmill!

February 28: Windmill, 8"
February 29: Winged Nine Patch. HOLD ON! There is no February 29 this year! It's not Leap Year. But it's part of the calendar because this is a perpetual calendar (not tied to any one year). We had to put it in there, ok?

 March 1: Alabama

March 1: Alabama, 9"
 March 2: Album Block
March 2: Album Block, 12"
 March 3: Arizona

March 4: Rocky Road to Dublin

Don't forget. If you own the calendar, you can download the free pdf that lists the 366 blocks by size (instead of only alphabetically).

  1. Love these. This inspires me to dig out my old calendar like this and try it to see how far I get.

    1. It's always fun to sew something new. Pick one or two blocks and pair them with some of your favorite colors or new fabrics in your stash!

  2. Inspiring! What an impressive pile of blocks - are you turning them into a quilt or various orojects?

    1. Just a reminder: these are NOT my blocks, just made from my patterns in my calendar. I think Patricia will put them into a variety of quilts. I am also anxious to see what she comes up with. And, yes, they are impressive!

  3. Hello Debby! Once again, each of these blocks were sewn together so perfectly; seeing them laid out like this inspires me to make each and every one. Only, I am overwhelmed with UFO's this year and a promise to myself to complete them. Just curious Debby, but how long did it take you to design an entire years worth of blocks? Well, thanks to innovative designers like you, quilters like me have the great quilt options to choose from today! So Thank You! Have a great day!

    1. Hi, Brenda. I worked on the calendar for most of a year, but that was NOT 8 hours a day. I also designed a companion CD of blocks with 2 sizes and 12 projects, so that's why it took so long. But I was also sewing and designing for Quilt Magazine, sewing for fabric companies and traveling and teaching that year, too. And UFOs: I have so many, too. Glad you are enjoying the block show; more to come!

  4. Delightful again. I really like her Arizona block! My calendar sits on my desk, but is rarely turned to the right day - usually a block I want to try next time I play.

    1. Yes, that Arizona block is lovely. I say: pick a block and just stitch it. I always love the process of sewing something new.

  5. Hi Debby, I have to agree with Susan above - I love the Arizona block! I just returned from a visit to Phoenix just one week ago (has it been that long already?!), and I would love to make this square and more for friends who have moved there. I so enjoy that you share these with us!

    1. Hi, Roseanne. Now that's two of you who love that Arizona block. It's not a hard one to make and what a lovely gift for your new friends. Make a set of coasters, easy enough. Thanks for stopping by.
