Free Pattern Friday: Sonnet

How's your Friday going? We are waiting for the Snow Apocalypse to happen tomorrow here in Virginia, so how about taking our minds off of that with a Spring type pattern?

This is Sonnet which I designed for P and B Textiles almost 2 years ago. My favorite color is pink and it looks so lovely with these grays. What do you think?

Sonnet: 34" x 42"
Sonnet is composed of two sizes of blocks. The smaller blocks finish to 7-1/2" and the larger blocks finish to 15". I wanted the fabric to do all the work. I do not like to chop beautiful fabric into little, tiny pieces. This is a very quick quilt to stitch and makes a lovely size for a small child or even a lap quilt for a wheel chair.

Any combination of colors will do. Make it in fabrics you love.

Click the link and it will take you directly to the pdf of the pattern for easy download.

  1. You're welcome. I think I'm going to make one of those myself using some Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Those center squares just call out for big prints, don't they?

  3. Yes, Carol, this is truly easy! Just some squares and rectangles. The fabric does all the talking.

  4. Oh, this is one I am sure I can do. I am not a "pink" person. I am of a yellow person. I will just have to see what is in my stash. Thanks for sharing this pattern.

    1. I think it would be fun in some serious yellow flower fabrics! And it certainly is perfect for all sorts of mixing and matching from a stash. But don't think for a moment you will be in any way making a dent in your stash!

  5. Hi Debby! I hope the snow apocalypse is a non-event like last night's snow here. They said 6 to 8 inches and luckily we only received 3 or 4. Nice! Now the temperatures are going to dive. Oh well, that's living in Wisconsin. Thanks for the free pattern. That's so nice of you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Hi, Roseanne. Snow apocalypse didn't get too serious, but there was rain and sleet keeping us indoors. A perfect day to stay inside and sew. I was supposed to be teaching an all day workshop 70 miles away, but we cancelled due to weather. But that's January, right?
