Windham Wednesdays with (More) Potpourri

English Paper Piecing with hexagons is a great take along handcraft. I have been working on some blocks off and on for a few years. I just pulled them out of the closet and realized that I used more of Laura Heine's Potpourri Collection for the background squares. Do you remember the fabrics?

Potpourri by Laura Heine for Windham Fabrics

They were released last June and I've made a few different projects with them. My latest is playing with more paper piecing. I like to have handwork to take with me if I'm at the park with my quilt guild or am sitting on my deck after dinner. Here is a simple Grandmother's Flower Garden using some older Windham Fabrics with a fussy cut motif from their Paper Dolls Collection (from almost 10 years ago!)

I added another row to this and then appliquéd it to a 14-1/2" square from Potpourri. Aren't those the sweetest dragonflies?

I actually took the last of those fussy cut motifs and put them into some other blocks. I used the lovely Potpourri prints as the background squares. Here's a second one, but this time using 1-1/2" hexagon papers.

And here are the four that I squeezed from the hexagons. The remaining 2 blocks (with the word print background) use 1-1/4" hexagon papers. I might sash these blocks so that they have good contrast with each other. I have a lot of this Potpourri fabric left (though I have cut into every single one of those 25 fat quarters!

I was able to make one more block with quite a few of those little motifs. This uses hexagons and jewels. I'm trying to figure out how to include this with the four blocks above! It'll come to me, I'm sure.

And one more single block. This uses jewels, diamonds and a single hexagon. It is the vintage Star Bouquet.

I still have more blocks to share, but they use the Pentagon Wreath. I'll bring them to you next Wednesday. So many blocks, so little time . . .

    1. Yes, there will be a few blocks next week with the pentagons. They are one of my favorite shapes for EPP. Stay tuned!

    1. Thanks, Nancy. I'm not really motivated by finishing as much as playing with block parts. Then, all of a sudden, I realize I have enough to put together into a quilt and there it is!

  3. I love to EPP, but I mostly use just the hexagons. Thanks for the ideas with the jewels! So pretty!

  4. Your blocks are so pretty with the fussy cutting. I'm working on an EPP quilt using the jewel shape and joining them into hearts.
