Arianna's Garden and FREE Pattern

I have sewn with Benartex fabrics for almost 20 years. They were generous with sharing them when I worked for Quilt Magazine and continued through the years. One quilt I designed using the Arianna Collection (2010) was picked up and patterned in the Spring 2011 issue of Easy Quilts by Love of Quilting (Fons & Porter).

Arianna's Garden: 53" x 53"

My pattern is a wonderful way to capture the beauty of a large scale print. The quilt is 54" x 54" and if you missed the issue, you can get it from their shop (for $7.99) as a digital pattern. Since I'm not paid for that pattern reprint, I'm not going to give the link! Here is a digital photo of the quilt:

Hey, guess what? I found all the directions and art that I had created when I sewed this quilt. You can have the pattern for the above quilt FREE - yes, I said FREE. Just click this link: Arianna's Garden, and it will take you to the 4 page pdf, in color, from my web site. These are NOT the same instructions given in the magazine. They write up all their own.

Before you go download your pattern, take a look at what I did with more of those fabrics. My block was published in Quiltmaker Magazine and I went ahead and made a whole quilt with these sweet fabrics. First, the 12" block which I named Flower Garden (clever, huh?)

12" Flower Garden

I only had enough fabric to make 5 blocks and I arranged them in a unique setting that turns out to be a 2 x 3 assembly (sizewize). I gave it away several years ago (unless it's hiding in my overflowing closets!). I blogged about this in March and offered the free 4 page pdf pattern. Did you miss it?

So, sometimes a collection speaks to me beyond one quilt. Sometimes, two. And tomorrow I'll be showing how one Windham Collection inspired me to make THREE quilts! See you then.

PS - if you enjoy getting these free patterns from me, let me know! I never know if anyone downloads them because most times it's crickets in feedback.

  2. I download many of the freebees but don't get much time to make them. I have shown off the project I made in your class often. I love it and how it turned out. I love making table runners because they are quicker than a quilt. Thanks.
