Women of the Bible Quilt

Lucky you - today is Friday the 13th again, but let's be positive! There is a gorgeous quilt being raffled here in Northern Virginia that is called "Women of the Bible." There are 40 blocks skillfully created by the Holy Quilters of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Haymarket, Virginia.

First, the gorgeous quilt:

Women of the Bible Quilt: 73" x 88"

What's the reason for the raffle? The church is in desperate need of structural repairs. It was built in 1801, with some outbuildings built in early 1900s. As you know, old things fall apart! This historic church has been a cornerstone in Prince William County for many, many years.

The quilt is made with high quality cotton fabrics in teals, blue, brown red and green. The pattern is taken from Stitchin' Tree Quilts. The quilt includes a hanging sleeve on the top back of the quilt (as you can see in photo above).

Along with the quilt, the winner will receive a book with the biography of each woman as well as a map to help you identify the block which represents her.

Tickets are $5 each or sold in a book of 10 for $50. Cash or check (made out to St. Paul's Church) are the means for purchase. Some interesting details about St. Paul's:

Originally built in 1801 as a District Courthouse, the building began hosting Episcopal services exclusively by 1822. Over the centuries, St. Paul’s has served as:

  • A courthouse

  • A school

  • A hospital during the Civil War

  • A center for worship and fellowship

In 1975, the church was recognized as a historic landmark by the Prince William County, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the United States.

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO TODAY’S VIBRANT PARISH LIFE, ST. PAUL’S HAS REMAINED A SACRED PLACE WHERE GENERATIONS HAVE GATHERED IN THE NAME OF CHRIST.

Drawing will be held April 12!  For more information and to get your tickets, contact Connie Gallant:
