Palm Quilts Showing Off!

I love sharp points. And the only way to get those is to paper piece them. (Traditional, vintage patterns have you cut out all the patches using templates!) Don't roll your eyes. Here are some of my projects. First, a single block (set on point).

Then I put 9 of these blocks into a quilt using the Regency Dandy Collection from Windham. Pretty wild, huh?

Here are several paper pieced single blocks which range in size from 6" to 10".

What do I cover in my workshops?

1. How to paper piece with shortcuts and streamlined pre-cutting, using the Add-a-Quarter ruler and a postcard for accurate trimming BEFORE adding the next patch.

2. How to measure for cutting in any paper pieced project, eliminating the crazy guessing.

3. Many of my projects are set on point. I include a handout on how to set ANY BLOCKS on point with simple formulas and a size chart.

4. Another handout: How to draft a Palm Block in any size. This is all based on a 16 patch grid (ie, 4 x 4).

5. How to needle-punch your foundations when you can't get to a copy shop. All you need is your pattern master and a stack of newsprint sheets of paper.

Now, how about the quilt I made for my last book Paper Piecing Perfect Points?

Hosannah Quilt with 7" blocks. 33" x 43"

This is one made with shot cottons and Kaffe Fassett fabrics. A lot of color, right? This time using 8 blocks. My workshop will cover how to set these blocks on point.

Then I made a few small quilts (table topper or wall banner size) for my 3 hour workshops.

And here is one of my absolute favorites. Uses some Kaffe Fassett prints.

This fits very well into an all day workshop and is doable in a half-day (3-4 hours) workshop. Your choice.
