Recent Charity Quilt Finishes

I make a lot of quilts. In fact, as we "speak" I have at least 3 dozen (more like 4 dozen) quilt tops hanging in my studio closet. Many are made for class samples. Some just because. Since I regularly receive fabric bundles from fabric companies to feature here on my blog, I just make whatever suits my fancy!

Stella Baby Logs. No border. 40" x 50"

My quilt guild here in Northern Virginia contributes about 200 quilts to a few local charities. The beauty is that I don't have to quilt them! Just hand over a top and one of several ladies will put it on her longarm machine with batting and backing and work her magic. I do like to put the binding on, so she gives them back to me and I bind them and then photograph them. Then back to Jeannie they go for donations. I figure I donate between 2 and 3 dozen a year. Do I make a dent in my stash? Hardly!

The quilt above is one of 5 Sweet Baby Logs quilts I've made. It is so fat quarter friendly. The blocks are 10" and I decided to not add a border. This was from a large set of fat quarters from Windham Fabrics called "Stella." I used up every, single piece!

Here are two of my Tilt patterns. Let the fabric do the work!

Frogs alternating with dots

I gave Jeannie the blocks and she added the sashing and quilted it. Again, what little kid (mostly boys) doesn't like snakes!?

Here is one I made using the Toadily Cute collection by Benartex. It has these sweet froggy and dragonfly panels and I gave each of them a 2" border, added some horizontal strips and - DONE! Jeannie gave it those outer blue borders and it's ready for any little child to cuddle under.

Here's one of several Storm at Sea quilts left over from my 2013 workshops. No border. Paper pieced boats. Jeannie quilted it and I added the stripped binding. This was made with my own Tri-Recs type of ruler, but the pattern does have paper templates. The illusion of curves is due to the two different angles in those triangles. Fun, huh?

I'll stop for now. I still have bindings to put on several more quilts. I had handed 10 quilts to Jeannie last month and she returned all of them to me at once. GULP!

Thanks for stopping by. Another day, another quilt!

  2. Hi Debby! So much eye candy and certainly some squirrels that I'm trying so hard to keep at bay. I have been meaning to make a Stella baby quilt - or that idea maybe. Thanks for sharing! ~smile~ Roseanne
